Ikwueto Corporate Services Division Launches in Abuja!


In January 2014, the Firm's Lead Partner Patrick Ikwueto SAN, in streamlining the integrated services of the Firm, restructured the Abuja Offices to create a new Corporate Services Division.

Being strategically located in the nerve center and close to the decision making Headquarters of the major regulatory bodies in Nigeria for Companies such as the Corporate Affairs Commission, Securities and Exchange Commission, Central Bank of Nigeria, National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, Federal Inland Revenue Service, and so on, the Corporate Division of the Firm provides an interface with corporate clients and prospective investors to continue their obligations and commitment to doing business in Nigeria by maintaining the various requirements and concessions of the regulators of their respective industries.

The work of the Corporate Division is to manage the increasing profile of Corporate Retainers handled by the Firm, and to provide services to Companies and business persons in the areas of regulatory compliance, transactional due diligence, risk management, board and board committees practices, fraud investigations, whistleblowing structure, market announcements and listing obligations, insolvency management, project leveraging, group restructuring, mergers and acquisitions and Special Purpose Vehicles.

The Corporate Division is headed by Mrs. Chinelo Ikwueto LLM. Mrs. Ikwueto has years of experience as a Chartered Company Secretary and holds a Masters Degree in Corporate Finance Law from the University of Westminster, UK. She is a member of the US Charter of the International Association of Risk and Compliance Professionals and has attended several conferences on Governance and Risk Management in Nigeria and abroad. Speaking at the Launch of the Corporate Division, Mrs. Ikwueto expressed her gratitude for being chosen for such an important position, and promised to lead the team of qualified and experienced lawyers at the Firm to deliver international standards of corporate governance practices. She stated that the mission of the Corporate Division is "providing bespoke legal consultation through professional expertise, industry innovation and strategic partnerships with government bodies and resource oriented civil organisations". The Division aims to be the preferred legal services provider for the medium corporate sector in Nigeria by 2016.
